Why did you choose to go to Plovdiv, Bulgaria?

I unfortunately did not get a place to study medicine in the UK so I decided to apply to study abroad. I considered many different places and through research and talking to many other students I decided to apply to Plovdiv.

What is the student lifestyle like in Plovdiv?

In terms of entertainment, there are not many things to do here in Plovdiv in comparison to back in the UK, however there are still events here in Plovdiv as well.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Plovdiv to other students?

Yeah, if there are any students that wish to study medicine abroad I would definitely recommend looking into Plovdiv. It may be very different to studying medicine in the UK however it is still a great experience.

What is the food like?

The food here is mostly like Turkish food for example kebabs.

How much does it cost to live in Plovdiv?

Living in Plovdiv is fairly cheap in comparison to the UK. Depending on where your staying rent can differ however it works out to about an average of about £120 including bills.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The language is necessary to learn in order to manage in Plovdiv, however, the University does a one month intensive course of Bulgarian before you officially start studying medicine in order to help you with this. Bulgarian classes continue weekly throughout the year.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Plovdiv from your city?

I generally travel by plane from London to Plovdiv.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Plovdiv in the future?

If you are considering coming to Plovdiv I would recommend that you do not come with extremely high expectations as it is very different to studying in London, however if you really want to study medicine I would definitely recommend looking into Plovdiv.
