Why did you choose to go to Perugia, Italy?

I applied for the EILC courses in Perugia and Siena and got accepted to Perugia.

I have a friend from my home university who has been there for another course and goes back regularly so I had only heard good things about the city.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

The EILC course is one month. The Erasmus scholarship is about 260 euros per month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Perugia?

There's always someone to hang out with at the main piazza if you're bored at home.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Perugia to other students?

No doubt! It was a really great experience.

What is the food like?

The University canteen is definitely cheap, so you can't really expect it to be top cuisine. For the price it's good.

How much does it cost to live in Perugia?

It's not that expensive really. About 300 euros a month in general I'd say.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available in the University?

Well, I was there to do a language course, so yes there is. I've studied Italian for several years, so it wasn't a big problem for me.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Perugia from your city?

By plane to Rome and from Rome by train or bus.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Perugia?

"Giardino Rosso Vino"! I miss that place so much!

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Perugia?

I mostly ate at home... "Dal mi' Cocco" (Via Garibaldi 12) is pretty cool though. There's a fixed 3 course menu for 10 euros. Good place to eat for a big group of international students!

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Assisi is about 30 mins away by train.

Umbria is in general a great (green) region of Italy with many small medieval towns (Bevagna and Gubbio amongst others), after a while the small towns started to look a bit alike though!

Is there any other advice that you could give to future students who are going to Perugia?

So worth a visit! Be prepared for all the hills though!. You'll get in shape in no time.
