What is it like to live in Perugia? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Well, I was born and still living in Perugia, so I have something to say about this city. I have mixed opinions about it. On the one hand I really like Perugia, its ambience and landscape, its history, art and architecture. It is a beautiful city full of history and culture located in the center of Italy. But, on the other hand, I think it's not a very safe place, above all the city centre and the Central Station area (terrible and unsafe), and the public transportation system here is bad.

What is the student lifestyle like in Perugia?

In the centre of the city there are some universities and many students live there, in the dormitories or in flats. They can spend much time together and I think this is great, but I do not like how difficult it is to get around, to drive, to park in the center...

How much does it cost to live in Perugia?

In my opinion it's not an expensive city, at least, not as expensive as cities in Tuscany or the city of Rome.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Perugia? Is there any advice you can give?

No, it's not difficult, you can easily find a flat to share with other students or workers.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

I really like the food. I love pasta, pizza, and traditional Umbrian cuisine. You should try "Torta al testo", a typical dish of Perugia.

What places would you recommend visiting in Perugia?

The city centre, Lake Trasimeno and its Villages, and many towns near Perugia such as Spello, Spoleto, Montefalco, Trevi, etc

Is it good to eat out in Perugia? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, it's good to eat out in Perugia. There are many places to eat here, I love "Testone" and "Cukuc", where you can eat "Torta al testo", you'll find excellent pizzas at "La Romantica". If you want to try Chinese food or sushi, I recommend you to try "Ristorante Valentina", it's great and the staff is very kind!

Is the nightlife good in Perugia? Where is good to go?

Yes, nightlife is good. You can go out in the city centre, where you can find many pubs, restaurants and a disco. The best clubs are far from the city center, so you need a car to go or you can look for a bus route.

What advice would you give future students heading to Perugia?

Pay attention to some areas and have a great time here!
