Why did you choose to go to Perugia, Italy?

For personal curiosity. Considering the differences of the traditions, dishes, landscapes, architecture and climate between different parts and regions of Italy, I knew that the northern part wasn't as distinct, so I began in Perugia.

Perugia was also a great place to reach surrounding bigger cities from. During the month of EILC, accompanied with other Erasmus students I visited Florence, Assisi, other smaller cities. Later on I went to the South of Italy, so I've seen a lot.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I was given a monthly scholarship of 450 euros, to with I had to add about 30% of personal savings for the living cost.

What is the student lifestyle like in Perugia?

It depends on a person. Most students have managed to attend lectures, do some trips around the region/city and attend some parties.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Perugia to other students?

I would.

What is the food like?

The local food is rich in flavours. Though there is such a great supply of the cafés and pizzerias, the quality does not depend on the price.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Perugia?

I have found the place on the accommodation advertisement page. There is a great variety to choose from. I shared a room in the apartment with other Erasmus students in the city centre.

How much does it cost to live in Perugia?

220eu/month per person in a double room.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes, I was in EILC. Myself am Lithuanian, which by pronunciation is very similar to Italian language, so I had no difficulties learning it and by the end of the month could orientate and speak a bit of Italian with no previous knowledge of the language.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Perugia from your city?

From Vilnius I went to Rome by plane and took a train to Perugia. Trains are the easiest way to travel in middle Italy.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Perugia?

The are several places in Perugia to spend a night, depends you want an Erasmus disco party ("Velvet", "Luna bar", either of which are average) or just a few beer and a conversation/football match at the pub.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Perugia?

Would definitely recommend the "Pizzeria Mediterranea" near the Piazza Duomo!

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Some museums, there are bono tickets to few museums (Duomo, the gate tower etc. ) to visit with a discount you can purchase at some museums.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Perugia in the future?

If you go to Perugia for winter/spring - bring coats and hats, because it is really windy out there.
