What is it like to live in Patras? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Patras is a beautiful, student city! The landscape combines the view of the sea and mountains! I would recommend it because its close to Athens and also its a city that you have easy access to islands of Ionian sea. Great nightlife with a variety of choices.
What is the student lifestyle like in Patras?
There are two Universities and one Technological Institute! Students from all over Greece having a memorable student life here in Patras. Good and cheap food, many places for coffee, libraries, good music events, theatre events, carnival, cheap accommodation, nice people and a feeling of freedom around!
How much does it cost to live in Patras?
I believe it it is possible to live with minimum 300 euros per month. There are cheap apartments and the life is also quite OK.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Patras? Is there any advice you can give?
No it is not difficult! There are many adverts with apartments for rent! On newspapers, or close to the universities. Probably they are in Greek but if you ask somebody to translate it's easy.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
You can find many places to eat good quality and quantity food. Gemista (tomatoes and pepers filled with rice), pastitsio (similar to a lasagna), souvlakia (meat with vegetables), tiropita (pie filled with eggs and cheese) and many others.
What places would you recommend visiting in Patras?
The ancient Roman theatre, the new museum, the castle, the city centre is ideal for walking, also pass by the sea and so many coffee places and bars for all kind of tastes.
Is it good to eat out in Patras? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Makina is one of my favourite places. Also Rokfor is a place with amazing food! Also Chasomeri and Skariba have really good food!
Is the nightlife good in Patras? Where is good to go?
Is very good. Yafka, Rokfor, Del bar, Notos jazz bar, Skariba, Pop Horn...
What advice would you give future students heading to Patras?
The student community here in Patras is big. Great music events, art and cultural things are going on. Really active community! Come and see by yourself!
