What is it like to live in Patras? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Living in Patras can be really nice especially for students. The city is not really big and life here is quite calm. Patras during the winter is characterised by its bright atmosphere, created by the big number of students that live in the city. Patras is ideal for students because of its nightlife, the variety in cafes, bars and clubs. Patras is not a really beautiful city but living here is cool! Of course, I recommend it!

It doesn't cost too much to live in Patras. Supposing that you will have to pay 250- 300 euros to rent a house (with the bills included), especially if you have flatmates, you need 200 euros per month for everything else. However, this isn't absolute, as it depends on the lifestyle you have. Prices are not different from other Greek cities. (Athens maybe is more expensive in some aspects). Regarding transportation, the student ticket from the city centre to the university costs o, 75 euros but if you choose the train you can have a student card for 15 e per month. The student ticket is for 1 e.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Patras? Is there any advice you can give?

If you are not going to stay in a university dormitory, I suggest you that you rent a flat in the city centre so that you won't face any problem with the lack of transportation at night. For more advice about accommodation visit the page of esn UOPA IN Facebook, and contact esn members. They will help you a lot.

Patras is not really well- known for the sightseeing that offers. But there are some certain places that are worth visiting. It is good but is not really cheap. Apart from pita that costs 2 euros more or less and souvlaki you won't have the ability to eat many times out if you want a good meal. A cheap and really good spot is Mr. Burger, and the dishes are huge. Of course you will find pita palces in every corner!

Is the nightlife good in Patras? Where is good to go?

The nightlife in Patras really appreciated. There are a lot of choices in different clubs, pubs and bars. Erasmus students prefer going to Gerokostopoulou street and drink their beers sitting in the stairs. Clubs like Naya and Mods are cheap and with good music. For sure you will love Patras nightlife.
