What's San Juan de Pasto like to live in? Would you recommend it? How is it?

Pasto has cold weather, so you should wear at least four layers, socks and boots or closed shoes. People are warm and when you have made friends, they are unconditional.

They tend to form deep-rooted groups that like to get together, meet to celebrate for any reason.

How much does it cost to live in San Juan de Pasto?

Depending on where you decide to live you can do it as a student in a furnished room for $200. 000 pesos or in a 60 square meter apartment for $500. 000. You can get daily food for up to $10, 000 including breakfast, lunch and a small dinner. It is best to live in a place close to the school to avoid paying for transportation, although it is also cheap.

Was it hard to find accommodation in San Juan de Pasto Do you have any advice?

Pasto is one of the only cities (only in the department of Nariño) that can make an Antichresis contract. You can get an apartment for up to $20 million pesos per year, which at the end of the year you get back in full, if you return the apartment in the same condition as you received it. It is the cheapest way to live in this city.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The typical food is very varied because each department in Colombia has its favorite food. In Nariño there are many dishes based on corn, wheat flour, potatoes and others. Among the dishes of Nariño, whose capital is Pasto, there is guinea pig (which is eaten roasted) which has a flavor similar to that of rabbit, but the flavor is more concentrated so it needs almost no seasoning; trout, baked pork, "quimbolitos" (cakes cooked in a bain-marie in a tin of banana), "locro": a soup based on potato, the fritada (pork fried in pieces).

Which places would you reccommend to visit in San Juan de Pasto?

La Cocha, (a lagoon 20 minutes from the city), The Cathedral of Las Lajas in Ipiales an hour and a half from Pasto.
