Exploring the beauty of Nürnberg
Situated 170 kilometres north of Munich and being the largest city in Franconia, Nürnberg is one of those cities in which you need to live for a while in order to be able to appreciate it. The city is not only full of history but also a great example of the German and more specifically the Bavarian culture.
My experience in this city started in the summer of 2015 when I had to move to Nürnberg to do my internship there. Since I arrived, I fell in love with the amazing spirit of this place. During my stay there I managed to experience a bit of the amazing German cuisine in restaurants like Hutt'n where they serve the best Bratkartoffeln, Wurst and Sauerbraten. Also, the market which is happening every Saturday was my favourite place to go and grab a brezel and a Radler or if you want something sweet, just go to one tiny shop and buy Lebkuchen- favourite German stuff. What makes the city amazing, in my opinion, though are the beautiful buildings in the old part of the city. In the old city, you may see the castle, a very beautiful church or the toy museum. Moreover, something very special about Nürnberg is the Christmas market. Yes, it is happening everywhere in Germany and also in Wien, in Prague and a lot of other cities in Europe but there is no other Christmas market as the one in Nürnberg. It is the most famous one and thousands of tourists come every year to feel the magic of Christmas. It is not only about the enticing smell of mulled wine and rum punch or the roasted almonds, but also about meeting family and friends and share the love.
There are a lot of beautiful cities in the world. Many of them have a rich history, others offer the best food and drinks, others are known for the entertainment activities they offer. For me, Nürnberg is a city that combines all of that in itself and even adds something more- it makes you feel like at home.
