Experience in Nottingham, United Kingdom by Luke
What is it like to live in Nottingham? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
It's enjoyable to be in Nottingham. There's lots to do, two football teams and a cricket team all within 200 metres of each other. The town centre is huge with lots of shops and activities that you can do.
What is the student lifestyle like in Nottingham?
Nottingham is a very popular student city with a friendly rivalry between the two universities that occupy the city. Every club and bar put on their own student nights so there is never a night where you can't find cheap drinks or activities to do. The student unions always put on different events for their members so I would recommend signing up to it.
How much does it cost to live in Nottingham?
Nottingham is fairly cheap compared to places like London and Manchester etc. Accommodation is cheap and you can always find cheap food around.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Nottingham? Is there any advice you can give?
Accommodation is easy to find so long as you're looking in the right places. Get started early and look at different renting companies to find a place to stay.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
The food is great, very diverse. You can find whatever you want somewhere in the town centre at all times.
What places would you recommend visiting in Nottingham?
I didn't do much sight seeing in Nottingham though I would recommend the sports stadiums for a good atmosphere on match days. Also the Nottingham Castle is great to visit.
Is it good to eat out in Nottingham? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
There are lots of different restaurants to go to if you are interested. Personally, my favourite place was a burger restaurant called Annie's Burger Shack. Anything you could ever imagine was on a burger, they'll do it for you. And the food there is incredible and affordable.
Is the nightlife good in Nottingham? Where is good to go?
Every club has there own student nights on different nights so you are never short on nights out. There is often special guest performances in clubs though my favourite places are Rock City (on a Thursday or Saturday night) and Baa Bar (Tuesday Night's).
What advice would you give future students heading to Nottingham?
Enjoy yourselves, stay calm and settle in. Get to know other students. It's great, everyone is friendly. Just relax and be yourself.
