Experience in Nottingham, United Kingdom by Elizabeth

What is it like to live in Nottingham? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Nottingham is an excellent place to be a student as there are two large universities in the city. The city has plenty to do but isn't very large, which helps create a friendly atmosphere. There are museums, theatres, great nightlife and cafes. You can also get to Sherwood Forest and Nottingham Castle for fun days out.

No. There is lots of private accommodation and university halls are available too. Notts Uni students usually live in Lenton, just outside the city, in their second and final years and live on campus for first year/ Erasmus.

Food is good, lots of choice of international cuisine in town! Head to 200 in Market Square for excellent coffee, The Ugly Bread Bakery in Hockley for great, freshly made pizzas and Homemade Cafe for huge slabs of cake!

Is the nightlife good in Nottingham? Where is good to go?

Bars - just for casual drinks, cocktails or date nights:

  • The Hockley Arts Club.
  • Boilermaker - a real experience, not one to miss! Save for a special occasion.
  • My favourite place for a drink is Pepper Rocks, great for cocktails especially in happy hour.

Nights out:

  • Ocean on Wednesday or Friday if you're a student.
  • Stealth/ Rescue rooms if you're less into pop, looking for something a bit edgier!
  • Crisis/ Rock City.
