Experience in Nottingham, United Kingdom by Elizabeth
What is it like to live in Nottingham? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Nottingham is an excellent place to be a student as there are two large universities in the city. The city has plenty to do but isn't very large, which helps create a friendly atmosphere. There are museums, theatres, great nightlife and cafes. You can also get to Sherwood Forest and Nottingham Castle for fun days out.
What is the student lifestyle like in Nottingham?
Amazing! There are two big universities in Nottingham, students make up around 15% of the population. There are loads of student friendly bars and restaurants and shops/ attractions offering student discounts.
How much does it cost to live in Nottingham?
Not much, less than London by far (although it isn't hard to get to London by train! )
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Nottingham? Is there any advice you can give?
No. There is lots of private accommodation and university halls are available too. Notts Uni students usually live in Lenton, just outside the city, in their second and final years and live on campus for first year/ Erasmus.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Food is good, lots of choice of international cuisine in town! Head to 200 in Market Square for excellent coffee, The Ugly Bread Bakery in Hockley for great, freshly made pizzas and Homemade Cafe for huge slabs of cake!
