Erasmus Experience in Nottingham, United Kingdom by Malcolm

Why did you choose to go to Nottingham, United Kingdom?

It was the only exchange available between my home university and England.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

5 months. 400€ per month

What is the student lifestyle like in Nottingham?

Nottingham is a student city, there are so many things to do (university societies etc.), parties almost every day, low prices for students, trips organised for students to some of the biggest British cities.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Nottingham to other students?

People are awesome. The university is beautiful. I definitely recommend it.

What is the food like?

As a vegetarian, I have a lot of options, and the food is good. Some really nice restaurants like Annie's burgers (best burgers in the uk, meaty, veggie, vegan)

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Nottingham?

I arrived at Nottingham 2weeks before courses start and I found an accommodation quite easily.

How much does it cost to live in Nottingham?

England is expensive, you may need to save some money before going there.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Meet people, talk a lot, get used to the accent. Your English is quickly improved. Language courses are available at the uni.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Nottingham from your city?

I would say by plane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Nottingham?

Go to the city centre in pubs or clubs. Very friendly and nice.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Nottingham?

Annie's burgers, vagamama, the cross keys

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Wollaton Hall, Nottingham castle, Notts forest
Then travel through the uk!

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Nottingham in the future?

try to avoid the university accommodations, they are expensive. Look around in Lenton, or Dunkirk. And ask students for rooms.
Sign up for societies at the uni ! And enjoy your semester in Nottingham !
