Keep going Lofoten

Keep going Lofoten :)

After the first stop we had a long way ahead. The distance between the airport and our cabins was more than 200 kilometers and we had to find a supermarket.

Despite the distances are short and there are no mountains to go up in Lofoten, the sinuosity of the roads is incredible because you must to drive surrounding the mountains, following always the coast, crossing the bridges that link the islands. This fact makes that the distances longer than you can calculate at the beginning, but it is not a problem.

When we arrived to Svolvær it was a little complicated than we expected to find the Kiwi Mini Pris. The village was spread all long the road and we did not see the supermarket because it was at the end. So we dediced to ask some teenagers on our way. They explained to us the supermarket was crossing the village, at the end on the right. It was surprising they did not speak a good English, something really common in Norway, but apparently, not in Lofoten :P

We continued on the direction they told us and we saw some people with shopping bags from Kiwi, welcoming us ahaha. We parked the van on the parking and got inside to grab some fooood.

The supermarket was pretty small: a couple of corridos and the vegetables and fruits were in the entrance. We thought about what could we buy because Ania was celiac. Anyway, we made the decisión of buying some stuff separeted: she bought some food for her and we bought some food for us. And we bought some for for everybody too.

We paid and we came back to the van. We were hungry because it was like twelve: a long time since we woke up.

We talked and said we were going to stop in the first appropriated place we find. We had bought hot dogs and BBQ, some chips, kétchup and mustard. Actually, we did not have too many options.

If you are in Spain you can say: ok we can buy some cheese, some ham, somejamón serranoand with a couple of breads we can make a sandwich and eat well and enough. But this kind of cold meat which we have loads in Spain is not common to have it in Norway. There is some, for sure, but the quality is not the same, the price is high and the amount you have in every pack is…ridiculous.

We finally found a place next to the road where there was a picnic table to sit down. It was windy we we did not have more options and we (as I said) were hungry. We prepared the BBQ and took some pictures while the hot dogs were ready. I do not like hot dogs at all, but I was so incredibly hungry that I eat them and I tasted them good ahaha.

Full stomachs and new stregths we continued our trip. We could not get use to the landscape. We were all the time saying how beautiful was. I can still hear Baptiste saying things as: "It's awesome, look at this!!". I do not how long it took to arrive to Balldstad but there we had to find the woman who rented the cabins to us. She had to gave us the keys.

The cabins were next to some codfish dryers: so, really good smell ahaha. Lofoten's smell just into the face.

She explained to us we had to pay in cash which was a mess for me because I did not have enough, but she said we did not have to pay that day, it was ok to pay next days. Cabins were fine: they have wi-fi, oven, fridge, microwaves (I think…). The bathroom has heat-floor, as a lot of times in Norway :D. We distributed to sleep and we continued driving until a little beach, but it was not the spectacular one, this one was just after this first one. I post some pics and I will tell you later about the place.

Kisses :)
