What is it like to live in Nice? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Nice is a very nice city to live in. It is not that big so it is easy to get around but it has all the facilities you would find in a big city. If you like travelling you have plenty small beautiful villages to visit around (and it is really cheap to get to most places by bus). Also, it takes you only 2 hours to get to ski resorts and in summer you can enjoy swimming in a beautiful sea. So you have hot sea and great mountains in a stone's throw away.

What is the student lifestyle like in Nice?

The student lifestyle is not that cool as there are not many night clubs and the pubs close at 2 am maximum. It is also quite expensive to entry and then pay for drinks. But once the hot weather starts you can enjoy outdoor get togethers at the beach.

How much does it cost to live in Nice?

This is the biggest downside of the city. It is popular with its luxurious hotels and casinos and yachts so it attracts rich customers which makes the prices go up. Eating out is quite expensive.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Nice? Is there any advice you can give?

Sometimes it might be difficult to find accommodation in Nice as the landlords like to have all the papers about your (or your parents' if you don't work) documents confirming that you pay taxes and how much you earn. But there are a lot of websites where you can find a room rented out by other students and it is not as strict. Remember that you can get some money from CAF to help you pay your rent.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

French cuisine is great! In Nice, of course, as we are on the seaside you can enjoy fresh seafood. Also, as we are next to the Italian border, there are loads of Italian restaurants. My favourite dish is a chevre chaud salad with goat cheese.

What places would you recommend visiting in Nice?

Go up the Castle Hill, visit Eze and its exotic gardens and Fragonard perfumerie.

Is the nightlife good in Nice? Where is good to go?

Sansas is good if you like latin dancing parties.

What advice would you give future students heading to Nice?

Be prepared to spend a lot of money. And make sure you have your rain coat and umbrella ready for the winter. It might be pouring rain for a week in January.
