Erasmus Experience in Nice, France by Patri
How long is the scholarship for? How much money do you receive as aid?
My Erasmus agreement is to spend the first semester in Nice and the second in Paris. They said that we would receive our grant at the end of December (which means I won't see the money until Paris) and they're awarding it to me for 5 months.
How is student life in Nice?
There are many universities in Nice, despite it being small so there is a great student atmosphere. The French don't usually hang out with the Erasmus and it's more usual that the Erasmus from different universities mix with each other.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Nice to other students?
Personally, to me, Nice seems a fantastic place to study and live in until the end of October. Starting from November, everything becomes sadder and colder. You see less people at the party nights, etc. I would only recommend coming in summer.
How is the country's food?
There are barely any traditional niçoise restaurants. The soccas are what are the common most, the 'cheapest' and are typical of the zone.
Did you find it hard to find accommodation in Nice?
Quite. They ask for an impossible amount of rent, for flats that shouldn't cost nearly half. Despite this, my friends from the university found flats at more accessible and decent prices, but always with a lot of difficulty when it came down to finding them.
How much does it cost to live in Nice?
Nice is very expensive. Food shopping is already a luxury when you realise you're buying four things and spending 30 euros.
