Hello all!

Let’s talk about what people can do around Rochester except studying. Our RAs and teachers and the whole staff were so attentive to fulfill our every single desire and wish, that we all are thankful for their work. They organized us so many leisure activities, it’s going to be hard to list all of them in only one post. Let’s start at the beginning.

This picture was taken at Bay Creek where we went kayaking. For most of the people it was the first time, however, nobody fell into the water while balancing in the boat and paddling.

Later, our host students divided us into small groups by 4-5 people and organized us a sightseeing and exploring competition, during which we had to find several famous places around the campus and Pittsford village based on indications and signs. This was a very good warm-up, because we discovered the surroundings, and we got closer to our team-members. In my team there was a Peruvian girl, a Mexican and a Nepalese boy, and I can say that even today we chat and speak monthly so we became very good friends. The problems could be solved by using creativity, but we needed to be smart as well. Making selfies with people in the plaza, watching the horses at the riding hall, finding Erie Canal, etc. My team rocked and won the game. The prize was a Nazareth College notebook and pen, and some extra Belgian chocolate, and of course the glory that we’ve done the best team-work.

In the chapel of the campus we’ve attended yoga classes. I’ve never done yoga in a chapel, but the lights, the echos and the whole atmosphere was a bit mystic. All of us liked it. Staying at the topic of sports, we’ve learnt how baseball meant to be played and spent very funny and exhausting afternoons in the courtyard. Here we also played games which require skills and speed, playfulness, good mood and sense of humour. We wrapped each other in toilette paper, and there was a running competition, and other games like this. Boys played soccer often while girls frequented the gym. Furthermore, there were several occasions of shopping at the malls. In Rochester I’ve tasted Frozen Yogurt ice-creams for the first time in my life. But took a look at typical American clothbrands we do not have in Europe, like Forever21, Banana Republic, Victoria’s Secret

Plazas are not my world, I enjoyed more attending the baseball match between Rochester Red Wings-Lihigh Valley Iron Pigs. It was the first baseball game in my life, and although it seemed a boring and static sport, I discovered its difficulty and I respect baseballers. You need to have an extremely good physical condition to be able to throw the ball, to hit the ball, and to sprint between the stations. Lot of concentration and technique is needed too. The audience was singing and cheering, and due to the fact that we've previously learnt the anthem of baseball games, called ‘Take me out to the ball game’ at the English class, could sing and become true supporters of the teams.

SeaBreeze Amusement Park was another Big Bang. This is a water amusement park too. It was an amazing adventure with roller-coasters, aqua-park and many frightening giant carousels. With a group of three Nepalese boys, I’ve tried every roller-coaster and lived the adventure of my life. This adrenaline dumping was not enough, by the night we often watched horror movies in the Tv room. I won’t forget how those creepy moments were, and how much did we laugh about each other.

The next trip was to Letchworth State Park. This is a National Park just like Yellowstone Park. Nature is wild and beautiful here. The Park constitutes a protected area and looks like a canyon.

Waterfalls and forests everywhere. Nature here supports and celebrates prides all the time. Due to physics laws, where waterfall and sunshine mix rainbows can be seen.

You can notice how tiny people are comparing with the wide river and waterfall on the picture above.

P. s. : Sorry for the quality of the pictures, I’m not a professional photographer.
