What is it like to live in Nairobi? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Nairobi being my home city i can say life is pretty affordable and would recommend to anyone anytime. I might be a little biased but it cant be far from the truth.

What is the student lifestyle like in Nairobi?

It is quite affordable and fun. From night life, vast events, cultural exchange and the students are very friendly. I am very sure someone who understands English well will settle in almost immediately.

How much does it cost to live in Nairobi?

You can get a decent house to rent between 100$ and 200$ including bills. Your personal expenses will now vary depending on the level of fun you wanna do. Not forgetting that public transportation is affordable including taxi. you should also note that Uber services are now fully available.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Nairobi? Is there any advice you can give?

it is easy to find accommodation. The only thing you need to be careful about is which part of the city to rent a house because of minor security issue, location of your university and traffic problems. I advice to consult someone who knows Nairobi well before making that decision.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Meat delicacies is the most common cusine. But there is basically every type of food that's most common everywhere. However, vegetarians will have a bit of problem since there are scattered restaurants that has your menu therefore they should be prepare to cook at home most of the time.

What places would you recommend visiting in Nairobi?

Nairobi national Park, Hell gate in a nearby city called Naivasha.. Most of the sites are out of Nairobi which makes it more adventurous for weekend getaways.

Is it good to eat out in Nairobi? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

There are countless of joints.. I a can just mention one like Java house.. No problem when it comes to food. Popular places are stake houses.. We Kenyans loves roasted beef meat a lot called locally "Nyama Choma'

Is the nightlife good in Nairobi? Where is good to go?

ooooh, it perfect... it never sleeps! K1 Club on tuesdays, Westlands Area has string of clubs, 1864 club, Club Space, Brew Bistro they are countless.. Once you are there and make friends you will automatically know them

What advice would you give future students heading to Nairobi?

I would just say be ready to have new experiences, different culture, hospitality of Kenyans and fun packed period. I will strongly recommend Nairobi for future Erasmus students. For any clarification i will be here to answer. Cheers/sherefe/salut!
