What is it like to live in Nairobi? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Nairobi is an interesting place to live. It has historical structures like the one I live in that dates to colonial era in Kenya this a period before 1960. In terms of culture, this is a cosmopolitan city where it is quite easy to fit in. In terms of prices like any other city there are expensive joints and the cheap ones so you just need to find your balance.

What is the student lifestyle like in Nairobi?

More like classes - hang out with friends - social media hangout - night life - games - weekend excursions - school trips -

How much does it cost to live in Nairobi?

Cost of living largely depends of your lifestyle and where you do your shopping. Groceries unlike in Europe (which was surprising for me) are way cheaper in the open air markets than in Supermarket.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Nairobi? Is there any advice you can give?

It is actually not difficult finding accommodation in Nairobi. high priced ones are there in plenty what might be difficult is finding affordable accommodation at the place you want... Secure... is the key word

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

I love Chapati (Indian flat bread, the kenyan version is dry fried on a pan) Samosa oh how could I forget Tilapia my traditional food from Lake Victoria, try it once and you are hooked.
All the other fast foods are like in Europe we even have Turkish Donna.
Ensure you try NYAMA CHOMA (grilled meat) and Tusker beer.

What places would you recommend visiting in Nairobi?

Visits the Nairobi National museum if you are into history and the snake park if you are into reptiles. Go cycling at Karura forest...
go meditating at the Arboretum. Take a swim at the Nyayo stadium or kasarani stadium with the locals.
All visitors in Nairobi have to visit Central Park (most people call it Uhuru Park) nice water breeze on a hot day.

Is it good to eat out in Nairobi? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Sure thing it is. I love Arbor house on Arboretum drive. Or better still the YMCA on State house road serves good lunch and has african them on Wednesdays. And St Andrews Church at the Junction of University way and State house road, lately offers good lunch.

Is the nightlife good in Nairobi? Where is good to go?

Nairobi has excellent night life; you could either be in the city centre or try game meat at the Carnivore; go to Westlands with a beehive of night clubs and discos..

What advice would you give future students heading to Nairobi?

KEEP YOUR COMMON SENCE AT HOME. learn from the locals about what is and what is not BUT again do not trust too much, Reviews help a lot on learning what to do in different situations.

At night please do not risk walking home you better taxi pool. Public transport might not be safe in some areas at night
