Why did you choose to go to Nairobi, Kenya?

The whole family was moving to Nairobi and I stayed to join high school and later university. That was 10 years ago.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I am completely self-sponsored.

What is the student lifestyle like in Nairobi?

It is what you make of it.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Nairobi to other students?

It's not for everyone, definitely. It's better if you know or have someone to guide you through the first week to month. Make a Good friend early on.

What is the food like?

Amazing and cheap if you know the right places. As I said, make a friend quickly and early.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Nairobi?

Not really. There is this, amazing thing called **the internet**.

How much does it cost to live in Nairobi?

Depends on your budget.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

If you know Swahili or English you can get by. Most people in Kenya speak some level of the two.

If you can't speak either of these languages then I'd recommend United States International University.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Nairobi from your city?

I live in Nairobi so I'm not sure this applies. In order of convenience

Bodabodas -Please google Safeboda. Fastest
Matatus - Public Service Vans and Minibuses.
Buses -

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Nairobi?

Best club scenes are in Westlands, CBD. Alchemist Bar is a favorite of mine in Westlands.
If you are a woman go with a group of at least three friends you can trust. MAKE FRIENDS.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Nairobi?

Google is your friend. I stopped going out to eat. I learned how to cook and I've never looked back. I am super out of touch.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

I prefer cultural EXPERIENCES, not cultural sites so I can't recommend anything beyond google it yourself you'll find plenty.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Nairobi in the future?

If you're the adventurous type become street-smart AND have good friends. If you're the loner type become street-smart VERY FAST.
