Why did you choose to go to Munster, Germany?

I wanted to go to a German uni and it was one of the few options available.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I didn't receive any, but other people got ~ 300 Euros/month from the uni I guess. You get a higher amount if you get a DAAD scholarship.

What is the student lifestyle like in Munster?

Very chilled and relaxed. The buildings are spread all over the town so you might have to hop between classes. I attended the business school and had a good choice of courses to select from (that were taught in English). Also it's the cycling capital of Germany.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Munster to other students?

For sure! It's not an expensive place to live so you can come here even if you are not on a scholarship. Also, Germany is located centrally in Europe so if you want you can travel around quite conveniently.

What is the food like?

Typical German, plus Turkish, Italian etc. - there's one Indian restaurant too that I knew of, to which I never went! The supermarkets like Lidl are quite good so you never really have to worry much.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Munster?

Our exchange coordinator put us in touch with a hostel where we got a good deal. Eventually though we ended up going for studio rooms (decent-sized room with own washroom, stove and fridge! ), which was the official student residence of the uni.

How much does it cost to live in Munster?

The hostel would've cost 180. Our studio cost us 210. You get a semester ticket so bus travel is free. I would say it shouldn't cost more than 500 per month even if you live quite lavishly.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

I did a Level 1 course in German before coming here, though didn't require it that much since everyone speaks very good English and are quite helpful. Having said that, always better to learn the local language! I think there was a short course available just before the start of the term.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Munster from your city?

I flew in from India ( loool whew! ) but assuming this review is more for European students, I'd stay trains would be a good option. Muenster lies on an arterial North-South line of Deutsche Bahn. So if you can get to the big German cities (Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Koeln), would be easy to take a plane from there.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Munster?

The Erasmus parties!

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Munster?

Didn't go that much.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

There's a church in the old city center with three cages on the top. The town itself is quite pretty .
