What is it like to live in Münster? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I love living in Münster! It's definitely a student town (about 50. 000 students and a population of about 300. 000) with lots of nice bars both in the old town and the port area, lots of good and low-priced places to eat and overall many many events organized by and for students.

Münster is also the city of bikes so it's actually easiest and quickest to get around by bike, the infrastructure is made for biking!

Although it is a challenge to find a place to live that's both affordable and close to the centre, it's worth it and I would recommend to live here!

What is the student lifestyle like in Münster?

Lots of parties, events and opportunities to get to know people. There's something to celebrate or participate in every week basically :D

How much does it cost to live in Münster?

It really depends on whether you get a room in a student residence which is rather cheap (depends on where it is though) or get your own flat/a room in a flatshare. I would say you would roughly have to pay about 300€ for a room in a shared flat per month (including everything) but it can be more if the room's big or the flat is in the center, etc.!

If you're a student you get the Kultursemesterticket which gets you into plays at the theatre for free (just go there to ask if they have free seats) which is absolutely insane! You also get all kinds of other discounts.

For clothes I would recommend Oxfam and other second hand stores (for example in the port area) as they sell good and affordable stuff or look out for one of many flea markets!

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Münster? Is there any advice you can give?

Yes, sadly! Plan ahead if you can and also look into the free brochure "nadann" (also available online)!

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

I mostly cook at home and when I eat in the city it's either at F24 (Frauenstraße in the old town) or at the canteen :D The best canteen is Kratzer's (top floor of the Mensa am Aasee) which has delicious vegan food!

What places would you recommend visiting in Münster?

Old town, Prinzipalmarkt, Promenade, Schlossplatz & Schlosspark, Aasee (just walk all around it, there's a beautiful park in the back! ), Hafenviertel for the evening out!
