What is it like to live in Monterrey? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Living in Monterrey is amazing, well, depending in the place you are; for example, I would recommend to live in the south of Monterrey or in San Pedro Garza García, which is very nice and I like it a lot. I totally recommend to live in San Pedro Garza García, clean streets, parks, a mall, a lot of stores, very cool restaurants, gym, etc. all of these very modern.

What is the student lifestyle like in Monterrey?

The student lifestyle in Monterrey is very nice; you can study, work, chill with friends, party, etc. In general, students go to school in the morning, then (most of the over 20 yrs) work, then work out, then homework, sleep, repeat haha. And every weekend they go to a club, restaurants with friends, bar, you know.

How much does it cost to live in Monterrey?

If you want to live in a nice place you are going to find flats over $5,000 pesos and if you are like.. "Idc" there are flats from $1,000 pesos. Food costs are ok, there's a variation of food everywhere. Services (water, gas, electricity) costs are also normal. So, Monterrey is not that expensive if you know how to administrate.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Monterrey? Is there any advice you can give?

It is very easy to find a good accommodation in Monterrey, but don't expect to have a very nice flat with a very low budget.
This is a very useful website for finding an accommodation: http://www.compartodepa.com.mx/

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is AWESOME, you can find good traditional dishes, good Chinese food, seafood, everything. I recommend to taste Pollo en Mole, Carne Asada, Cabrito, Dulces Tradicionales, Caldo Tlalpeñ (all traditional food).

What places would you recommend visiting in Monterrey?

Nature: I recommend Chipinque, Matacanes, Bahía Escondida, Cola de Caballo, Parque La Estanzuela, La Ventana, Río La Silla and Paseo Santa Lucía.

Museums: I recommend Museo de Historia Mexicana, Planetario Alfa and MARCO.

Is it good to eat out in Monterrey? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Restaurants: 13 Lunas, Pura Vida Soulfood, Maldita Mantequilla, Postreria 77, Cabo Grill, Las Alitas, Nikkori, Nopop, Voro Cuisine, Pizzeria Di Doru, Bread Panaderos Artesanales (this is more like a coffee place), Bardot, Silvano's, MAMVA, and El Gaucho.

Is the nightlife good in Monterrey? Where is good to go?

Clubs: Pink Donkey (I think they're remodeling but go to the new one when it is ready), D Club, Republica de San Pedro, Classico, Barezzito, Casa San Pedro, Press, Robbie's.

Lately they have been coming a lot of Dj's to the city and it gets very good.

What advice would you give future students heading to Monterrey?

I totally recommend to make friends there, we are very friendly with foreigns, we like to party every weekend and make "carne asada" in every celebration. Also, it would be more easy to buy a car since the places to visit are not very close and it will cost you more if you take the taxi.
