What is it like to live in Mexico City? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
The capital city of Mexico, is a place where you can find everything you want. If you are a person that loves travelling, this place will be perfect for you, because there are many places that you can visit which are close to Mexico City, for example if you want to go to the Acapulco beach it is 3-4 hours by car, ff you want to see a little town called San Miguel de Allende Guanajuato it's 3 hours away. The traffic is not so great, so it is something you should take into consideration once planning your trips. But the city is an amazing place to live.
What is the student lifestyle like in Mexico City?
For students the city is cheap you can get amazing food and public transport for a very low price. The UNAM is one of the bests universities in Mexico.
How much does it cost to live in Mexico City?
You can rent an apartment for 280 USD, single ticket for public transport is about 1 USD and for a mean in a normal restaurant you will pay 4-5 USD.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Mexico City? Is there any advice you can give?
Yes, because the city is very big so you have to be very careful, look for places that are near your university because as I have already mentioned the traffic can be an issue.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Mexican food is very intense and delicious. Mole is one of the typical dishes. There are also flautas and enchiladas. If you don't eat pepper be very careful and ask to have your salsa on the side.
What places would you recommend visiting in Mexico City?
Zocalo, Bellas Artes, La Roma, La Condesa, Antara which is an excelent luxury mall at Polanco. Santa Fe which is also a nice place and the industrial part of the city. Coyoacan is a good place to go on a weekend and Xochimilco is very popular.
Is it good to eat out in Mexico City? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Yes, beer factory is a cool place to go with your gang, La Mansion is a place where you can go to have some good meat. La Condesa and Roma is full of nice places to eat.
How is the nightlife in Mexico City? Where is good to go?
Rhodesia is a nice bar as well as Classico, Sens and many others.
What advice would you give to future students heading to Mexico City?
Choose you accommodation carefully. Try to choose something that is close to the university or to the city centre. In general the city is safe for students. You will never regret living in this country. Good Luck! I'm sure you will fall in love with Mexico its culture and people!
