Medellin is truely a paradise city, the weather is most of the time a nice 24-29 degrees so not too hot nor to cold. The Paisa people love to party so you are never far away from a great time, if you are new in town people will end up inviting you to parties which are a great way to meet people and make new freinds. Price wise it isn't to expensive to go out as everybody contributes to the "vaca" which is where you put it a bit each to buy a big bottle of liquor and mixer. Transport takes a bit of getting used to if you are coming from the us or europe as the buses can be jumped on or off whenever which becomes frustrating when you get back to europe and have to wait for the stop. Food is excellent if you like rich simple flavors however if you are more of a gourmet type you will not have much luck as the people are not too keen on spices and they know what they like hence finding good Indian, thai, chinese etc is difficult. However the colombian food although the flavors are basic , is actually very nice the streetfood especially empanadas, papa rellenas are all things that need to be tried. Drinks wise however it is amazing, all juices are made freshly and with either water or milk, there is no substitute for the quality and freshness of the juices they are simply amazing. Once again the best thing is the people, very open and friendly and always ready to have a good time, especially in august and December, make sure you make some local friends and get on a chiva to see los alumbrados you will not forget it.
