Maxi Club

Maxi Club is one of the biggest clubs in Marseille. It's located just off of Vieux-Port which is the real centre of the city. Because it is so large it is probably the most popular destination for BDE (Bureau des étudiants) parties in all of the universities. As these parties are usually absolutely packed every Wednesday or Thursday (depending on the university) you will be glad to have the big open space that Maxi Club provides. A lot of the clubs in Marseille are not that big and it can get quite cramped and claustrophobic, not to mention the heat! You never feel squished in Maxi Club even when it is at its fullest. Even the smoking area is pretty large so there's room for everyone!

The best thing about Maxi Club is that usually all of the parties that are held there tend to be BDE parties so that usually means that there will be a special theme for that night. "Dressing up" or wearing costumes aren't as popular in France as in places like Ireland, England or the US but usually students make a big effort for the BDE parties. The Oscars, Frat Parties and Masquerade Balls were just some of the different themes that I saw whilst I was there. Some universities tend to make more of an effort than others but I guess that just comes down to luck I guess. So if you are like me and enjoy parties with themes, that involved dressing up then make sure that you check out Maxi Club as you will not be disapointed! Drinks usually only being €2 at BDE parties is usually a big bonus too! (A dangerous bonus, but one nonetheless! )
