Why did you choose to go to Maribor, Slovenia?

Because of it's location (it's a perfect destination to travel to other countries), and probably if it wasn't for Erasmus I would never have the chance to visit Slovenia and also because Maribor is a small city with a great Erasmus atmosphere.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I choose to stay one semester and I received 250 euros per month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Maribor?

Awesome! Erasmus parties every wednesday, slovenian student parties every tuesday and ​Erasmus Student Network Maribor is always creating events and trips for Erasmus students.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Maribor to other students?

For sure!

What is the food like?

Great, since Maribor doesn't has cantines, they have a student coupon system where you can eat lunch and dinner from 0 to 5 euros at almost every restaurant. Every restaurat has lots of options since Slovenia has strong influences from the countries next to it.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Maribor?

It did. Since I didn't want to live in a dorm I had to search on diferente websites for flats (all in slovenian language so I had to translate everythinhg on Google). But ​Erasmus Student Network Maribor has an Erasmus accomodation coordinator that can help you finding the perfect accomodation for you.

How much does it cost to live in Maribor?

We have the food coupons so we don't spend a lot of money on food so it depends on the type of lifestyle you live (how many time you go out and how many trips you do).

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

For me is extremelly difficult, I don't understand a word but yes, there are language courses available at the University.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Maribor from your city?

Get a flight to Milan and then Flixbus to Maribor.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Maribor?

Trust or KMS.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Maribor?

Noom, Patrick's Pub, an italian restaurant on Europark (it's my favourite but I don't remmember the name), Bosnian restaurant, Ancora, LunchBox (it's for free with the coupons), Piano (buffet) and Fresh4life (also free with the coupons)

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Mestni park (go up the mountain to see the views), Regional Museum, Pohorje.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Maribor in the future?

Just enjoy yourself and enjoy every minute in Maribor because it will be one of the best experiences of your life.
