What is it like to live in Madrid? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I strongly recommend to live in Madrid. The city is wonderful and full of different attractions and people are really nice and friendly.

What is the student lifestyle like in Madrid?

Students can spend really good time in Madrid and have a great experience. University courses aren't so hard and difficult, so you'll have a lot of spare time to go around and have fun.

How much does it cost to live in Madrid?

The cost of life is not excessively expensive (you can eat and drink in the city center, spending 9 euro). Transport season ticket costs around 40 euro/month and you can get both underground trains and buses. For having fun, getting in a disco may cost 10-15 euro, but it's less expensive and funnier to have parties with your erasmus friends at home.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Madrid? Is there any advice you can give?

It's not difficult to find accomodation in the city: you can look at websites on the internet or specialized newspapers. The cost of the flat in Madrid can be very expensive (around 400 euro/month/p. p. close the center in a share flat). I strongly advice to look for flats in the area of Plaza de España or Ciudad Universitaria, where you can find cheaper flats to rent.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

My favourite dishes in Madrid are tapas, jamón serrano, vino tinto and sangría.

What places would you recommend visiting in Madrid?

You absolutely have to see: Plaza Mayor, Mercado de la Latina (Sunday), Mercado San Miguel, Gran Vía, Parque del Retiro, Museo del Prado, Museo Reina Sofía, barrio de Chueca, barrio de las Letras, Palacio de Oriente, Teatro Real, Puerta del Sol, and more and more attractions that this awesome city offers.

Is it good to eat out in Madrid? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

I strongly advice you to go to eat at San Miguel market (close to plaza mayor). You'll find there all kind of spanish traditional food in a market with a attractive architecture.

What advice would you give future students heading to Madrid?

Walk around and get lost. Just this way you'll discover and find out Madrid corners and places.
