El Rastro market, Madrid

This one of the largest flea market in Madrid which holds on each Sunday in the central neighbourhood of El Rastro. It opens from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. in each Sunday all year along including in the public holidays. This one of the tourist attraction in Madrid. Flea market has spread from one street to another in a mazing way.

According to local people, flea market is place which is best for treasure hunting and enjoy tapas after enjoying the ride in the flea market. From this market people can buy all the thing which they expect including second hand items for a low price.  During my stay, I had the opportunity to visit several flea and street markets in Spain but this is the place where I was able to buy most of the things for low price. For example, I bought stainless steel bracelets for one euro. Even though I could find these things, my advice is to stay on alerts since vendors offer low quality goods even under a bargaining price.

Commonly, people can find jeans, t-shirts, leather bags and other leather items, silver jewlleries, electronic items, other clothing items and spices. Among them sometimes, people can find handmade leather items as well as designed cloths with a high quality with plenty of choices for a reasonable price. The other best thing is if you are antique lover then you can find lot of antique stuffs in this market.

my advice is to visit the place since it is wonderful but beware of pickpockets and keep your money in a hidden place. If it is possible go before 10.00 a.m. before the market gets too crowded. When you buy something try to bargainsince your luck might work. Don’t miss Mercado de San Miguel which is food market wedged near Plaza Mayor on Plaza de San Miguel, where you can enjoy all types of Spanish and other types of foods and beverages.
