What is it like to live in Lione? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Lyon is a very nice and beautiful city of France. If you live in the center you will be able to discover the beautiful architecture of the Vieux Lyon or the place Bellecour, or enjoy a drink next to the Rhône river. If you live a little off center, then a very strong public transport network will help you go to the center of the city.

What is the student lifestyle like in Lione?

I was personnally studying on the La Doua campus, a very nice campus with the university Lyon 1 and at least two Engineering schools.

The campus is very close to the park "La Tête d'Or". There is a university library with pretty convenient opening hours. The campus is also not so far away from the city center in public transport (you have reduced prices as a student). You can also use self-service bicycles.

How much does it cost to live in Lione?

The life in Lyon costs the same as in the rest of the France, less expensive than in Paris but more expensive than in a little town.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Lione? Is there any advice you can give?

I don't really know as I had the chance to live in a CROUS accomodation...

As an advice I would say begin to search for an accomodation very early (June) and do not hesitate to pay the entire summer if you can afford it... Also, do not say how long you are staying if you are not staying a entire year or more...

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

You can find classical food as pasta, pizza, rice, vegetables, meat and fish as everywhere in France and even more in Europe.

You can also find typical food from Lyon if you go eat in a "Bouchon Lyonnais". I have tried several of them and all were good.

What places would you recommend visiting in Lione?

You should go to the Place Bellecour, the Vieux Lyon, Fourvière and walk along the Rhône and Saone docks.

If you are in Lyon the 8th of December then please go to the "Fête des lumières".

Is it good to eat out in Lione? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

If you have the opportunity, go to a "Bouchon Lyonnais" as for example "La Mère Jean" or "La Traboule".

Is the nightlife good in Lione? Where is good to go?

You have a lot of bars and nightclubs in Lyon. The place I prefered was the Ayers Rock which is a mix between a nightclub and a bar.

I also liked to have a drink on the "Place des Terreaux".
