Lyon is a great city to live when you're young. There are three universities and a lot of schools (business, arts, communication, etc. ). Every suburb is different. You can have a walk in the Tête d'Or Park, where you can see animals. You can go the Vieux Lyon and see the "traboules". Or you can walk up to the wonderful Fourvière church.

What is the student lifestyle like in Lyon?

In Lyon, like wherever in France, there are many courses to follow, so you must be prepared to spend a lot of time in the University. But there is many student association, often linked to a specific program. They organize parties, conference, ski week-end, etc.

How much does it cost to live in Lyon?

Lyon is not the most expensive French city, but it cost a bit to live in Lyon.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Lyon? Is there any advice you can give?

It's not really difficult to find a place to live in Lyon, but you should try to find an apartment in Villeurbanne or Bron, because these cities are just next to Lyon and linked to Lyon by the subway, and it will be less expensive.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

It is said that Lyon is the French capital of gastronomy. You can eat specialities of Lyon in a Bouchon Lyonnais in the Vieux Lyon (you'd better not be a vegetarian to appreciate it).

What places would you recommend visiting in Lyon?

You must go in the Vieux Lyon, to eat in a Bouchon or to have a drink in a bar, you should go to Croix-Rousse, which looks like a tiny village in Lyon. You have to see the Fourvière church. For shopping, you can go at the Part-Dieu's center or the new Confluence's center, or in Rue de la République.

Is it good to eat out in Lyon? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

You can find cheap restaurants like Subway, McDonald's, Burger King, etc., everywhere in Lyon. But you can also find good (and more expensive) restaurants!

If you want to eat French home made cuisine and pastries at a low price, you should go to Le Bistrot à Tartine in Cours Albert Thomas (near the subway station Sans Souci).

Is the nightlife good in Lyon? Where is good to go?

You should go in the Vieux Lyon or at Hôtel de Ville to have a drink. And if you wanna dance, follow the Rhône's quay to find the Ayers Rock Boat.

What advice would you give future students heading to Lyon?

Don't be afraid if people don't understand you (many French people have difficulties to speak English), but people from Lyon are nice and they love to have parties and going out. So you should be prepare to juggle between courses at university and crazy night!
