Why did you choose to go to Lyon, France?

It was the only option for me with my university.

What is the student lifestyle like in Lyon?

Lyon is very student based no matter which part of the city of surrounding area you happen to be in!

Would you recommend the city and the University of Lyon to other students?

Yes, the city is fantastic! Lots to see and do, but it can be expensive so if someone's planning on coming here... start saving!

What is the food like?

Fantastic, there's options for everyone. Probably my favourite part of lyon! For example, the salads "lyonnaise" or the food in the markets.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Lyon?

My host college facilitated this.

How much does it cost to live in Lyon?

It is a bit expensive but only because, at first, I had to go find the right shops. But it is necessary to save before coming here.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes, people are very understanding here and they take any language barriers into consideration! Go online put an ad up to swap your language for theirs over a coffee or ask your college to send the ad around.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Lyon from your city?

Metro.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Lyon?

For sure. It's lots of fun, there are lots of students and a great atmosphere.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Lyon?

Pizza Pino in Bellecour, the market place you can find on Saturdays by the bridges is fantastic, but pretty much all around Lyon there are great places.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Musée des Confluences, Notre-Dame de Fourvière, parc de la Tête d'Or and go check out a rugby or football match! The atmosphere is great.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Lyon in the future?

I think just expect it to be different from where you live yourself! New cultures can be scary but you will settle in and love your time here!

Definitely, save before you get here! Just to ensure you can enjoy everything and travel France too! It's so cheap to use the bus or train and it might be your only time here so make the most of it!
