Why did you choose to go to Lyon, France?

It was the only available option in my university, but I did not view this as a negative.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

6 months, 1200 euro

What is the student lifestyle like in Lyon?

Excellent, there are always so many places to go out, lots of events going on and its just an excellent place.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Lyon to other students?

Always

What is the food like?

Great, for a good restaurant 3 course meal the price was 15euro, which is not too bad. Lunch time prices were a little higher however.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Lyon?

Yes, and the accommodation was quite expensive. this was the main downside, 500 euro a month for a small studio.

How much does it cost to live in Lyon?

1000 a month roughly

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

I spent most of my time with french people so made massive improvements very quickly

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Lyon from your city?

plane

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Lyon?

definitely, there's loads of areas to visit

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Lyon?

vieux lyon, pignol in bellecour

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

endless amounts, La croix rousse, vieux lyon, fourviere, and loads to see in the centre

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Lyon in the future?

Try to have a coloc sorted before leaving, otherwise it will be difficult and expensive. Join the Lyon Gaelic Football team
