I'm here for 5 months.

The city has a lot of students, whenever you go out partying, you'll meet new people.

What is the food like there?

It's really good if you have enough money to pay €20 for a menu. If not, have bread and butter, it's very French.

Was it difficult to find accommodation in Lyon?

No, because I was assigned a place in the residence, but it is difficult otherwise.

How much does it cost to live in Lyon?

The residence costs between €100 and €400 a month, a monthly metro pass costs €28. 10, eating in the restaurant at the university costs €3. 15, doing a load of washing at the residence laundromat costs €3.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the university?

The language is very important, no one speaks English here. They gave me 30 hours of French classes at the university.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Lyon from your home city?

By plane or train, it depends on the dates and how far in advance you buy your tickets.

Where would you recommend for a night out in Lyon?

L'Abreuvoir.

And to eat in Lyon? What are some of your favourite places to go?

Vieux Lyon is full of places that serve good food (if you can afford to pay €17-20 for a menu).

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The Abode of Chaos (Saint-Romain-au-Mont-d'Or).

Do you have any advice for students coming to Lyon in the future?

If you're coming here wanting people to treat you like they do in your country or for them to speak English to you, you shouldn't come.
