Why did you choose to go to Lyon, France?

Because I wanted to live in a city where they don't speak English so I would be obligated to learn French.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

It lasted 1 year and it was around 300€/month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Lyon?

It is good! A lot of Erasmus parties and also parties with local French students.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Lyon to other students?

Yes!

What is the food like?

Different than in my home country, but good!

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Lyon?

No. I found it from Erasmusu.

How much does it cost to live in Lyon?

Life in Lyon costs 315€/month plus transport and food and other costs.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

It is difficult for someone who doesn't speak much, but you learn fast.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Lyon from your city?

Plane. There are no straight flights from Finland to Lyon so I have to fly through Amsterdam/Paris/Barcelona.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Lyon?

Place des Terreaux/Hotel de ville! At the summer time the boatclubs at Rhône are nice.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Paris, Annecy, Nîmes, Bordeaux, the Riviera... France is an amazing country.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Lyon in the future?

Don't have high expectations on the French people! They will become nicer after you get to know them. Also, this country has a lot to offer (skiing at the Alps, tanning at the Riviera, surfing at Bordeaux, culture trips to smaller cities, food in Lyon, shopping in Paris), so remember to make the most out of it! It is definitely worth it!
