Experience in Luxembourg, Luxembourg by Perrine
What is it like to live in Luxembourg? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Living in Luxembourg is like living in a whole country, everything is close to you. You can go to visit France, Belgium or Germany very quickly as well. I would truly recommend it because it's like a transnational country, there is plenty of languages and cultures.
What is the student lifestyle like in Luxembourg?
The Student Association is very important in student life.
How much does it cost to live in Luxembourg?
Live in an apartment alone costs around 1000€/month, but like most of the students, you can stay in a university room (it's about 400€/month). The university's résidences are very modern, clean and enjoyable.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Luxembourg? Is there any advice you can give?
I advise you to contact the university to ask them for a university room because it would be a lot easier for you and first of all you would meet many people in your residence.
What is the food like? What are your favorite dishes?
Luxembourg is a multicultural country, so you can find all types of food made by all citizens of the world. The Luxembourgish specialties are not easy to find.
What places would you recommend visiting in Luxembourg?
First of all, you have to visit Luxembourg town and then you can visit all the historic monumùent of Luxembourg to discover the whole story of this country.
Is it good to eat out in Luxembourg? Can you tell us your favorite spots?
My favorite spot is la Brasserie Guillaume in Luxembourg.
Is the nightlife good in Luxembourg? Where is good to go?
The place to be if you want to party is "Les Rives de Clausen", it's a place where there are many bars, restaurants, and nightclubs. You can obviously find other bars and restaurants in the city center and in Belval (where the university is).
What advice would you give future students heading to Luxembourg?
Don't be afraid, everybody's a foreigner in Luxembourg! You can talk to anybody, most of the student speaks 5 or more languages!
