London

If you had a chance to visit United Kingdom and you couldn’t go on an excursion in London, because your flight to homeland was on that day, would you go to your country without seen the capital of UK? I’m sure you wouldn’t!

So how could I not go to London! That was my wish! - to see Big Ben, Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Westminster Abbey, Westminster Palace, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, London Eye and others. So, me and my two friends went there by train.

And there it was! London! My dream city! I wanted to see everything!

So, going to London was some kind of a challenge for me, because I was alone in a way. I mean, there were just three of us and we were all 16-years-old and there were no parents, no supervisors, no teachers, etc. to guide us or something. So we were pretty much alone in that foreign country kilometres away from Georgia. And we didn't even care about that at that moment, I guess. Everything was ours and we were the kings! "The world is mine" - that would be the soundtrack of our movie if we had one about our trip to London.

We arrived at King's Cross. That is the place where Harry Potter tries to get to the platform 9 3/4 and get through it to go to Hogwarts. We looked for that platform thoroughly, but we couldn't find it either, of course.

Our friend was waiting for us there to guide us through the city of London. I must say he did a pretty good job in sightseeing London, because it's really hard to see so many things in London in just one day.

So, the first stop was on Baker Street where Sherlock Holmes museum and Madame Tussauds are located.

I think the first one that we saw was London Tower. It was being renovated and some parts were not seen, but still, it was amazing. And when I thought how many people had died there and were executed, this made it really horrifying. I have also read the very famous stories about Anne Boleyn and how King Henry VIII had her thrown in the Tower of London and executed there.

Tower Bridge was coloured in red, white and blue when we were there in 2010. I know they restored it to its true colours in spring in 2010.

St. Paul's Cathedral is fascinating. It is huge. I was amazed by its architecture and its beauty.

It was breathtaking as we walked across the Millennium Bridge and I remembered films about zombies "28 days later" and "28 weeks later". The Thames seemed so quiet and large, that I was looking at it nearly shocked.

Of course, one of the main symbols of London are the Parliament building and the Big Ben. They are amazing at night - all lighted and stuff.

The Globe Theatre and the Buckingham Palace and the London Eye... I can't count the places where we went and how amazed we were by looking at them. That was a great day of my life.
