The deadly Chestnuts
Jim Rohn said that “If you don’t like where you are, move. You are not a tree”. For some reason I kept seeing this quote everywhere for a long time. I didn’t know if it was Karma or just my mom wanted me out of the house. So, since I had no job at the moment and nothing extravagant had happened in my life, I decided to apply for the Erasmus Placement Program, which gives you the opportunity to have an internship anywhere in the European Union. So, If you have already read my first post you already know that i chose Slovenia to be my host country.
As I was getting ready for my trip I was googling anything that would be useful for someone who would be staying in a foreign country for 3 months. To my surprise I found nothing. So, after almost two weeks in Ljubljana I am going to share with you “5 things to know before visiting Ljubljana”. However, at this point I would like to make a clarification. Most of the things you are going to read will actually make sense only if you are Greek, Italian or Mediterranean in general. If you are a proper European citizen it will sound nothing but usual to you.
No1: If you wanna know if tomorrow is gonna be a cold day, you should google it, call NASA, or tell your mom to call NASA. In any case do not ask Slovenes or worse do not imitate them. These people are used to really low temperatures which means that cold for them is probably around -2 degrees. You better be dressed like an onion. Onions are great.
No2 :Ljubljana has a lot of chestnuts and squirrels which can be a deadly combination. Trust me. You don’t want to get hit by a chestnut, or a squirrel.
No3: If you are short like I am, do not try to ride a public bike. You probably gonna be a danger for the others and for yourself cause who needs a helmet when you have the best hair day.
No4 : Green traffic lights in Ljubljana sound like taser. That’s an evil thing to do people!
No5: Slovene pedestrians actually respect the traffic lights. Honestly if the traffic light is red but the road is empty, they are not going to move. Not even if you give them free french fries. That’s a no honey.
