Experience in Ljubljana, Slovenia by Janz
What is it like to live in Ljubljana? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
The city is nice and really well organized. I also recommend it because of the geographical position, from Ljubljana or Slovenia you can travel around in cities as Belgrade, Zagreb, Venice, Verona, Budapest, Vienna, etc. quite cheaply.
What is the student lifestyle like in Ljubljana?
Ljubljana it's a student city there are a lot of students, even more parties and the prices are affordable.
How much does it cost to live in Ljubljana?
I would say 100-200 for accommodation and another 200€ for life costs.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Ljubljana? Is there any advice you can give?
There are a lot of Facebook groups, websites and I guess if you're an Erasmus student you are placed in a Erasmus dormitory with other Erasmus.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Food is incredible. It's a mix of different cousins you can eat really good Italian pizzas, incredible Serbian meat (čevapcici), etc. There is really a lot of food. However I will not lie, there are certain restaurants that are really good and others that are garbage. I don't like to order at home as I always received not tasty food.
What places would you recommend visiting in Ljubljana?
There aren't a lot of places you can visit in Ljubljana. You can go to the castle and walk riverside in the city center. But there are other places 1 hour from Ljubljana that are top world destinations as the Bled lake or the Postojna Castle and Cave.
Postojna Cave
Is it good to eat out in Ljubljana? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
For Serbian-Bosnian meat i would recommend Hamburaša. Pizzas are quite good in most pizzerias.
Is the nightlife good in Ljubljana? Where is good to go?
There are parties everyday of the week. You can go out on Sunday and have a nice party. The plus is that everything is in the city centre so you can walk from one destination to the other.
What advice would you give future students heading to Ljubljana?
Be ready to drink a lot and have a lot of parties.
I wouldn't recommend Ljubljana if you're not a party type of person.
