Why did you choose to go to Ljubljana, Slovenia?

Because I heard a lot of good things about Ljubljana. It's a city in central Europe so it also gives you a lot of opportunities to travel abroad.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I got 470 per month/one semester,

What is the student lifestyle like in Ljubljana?

It's great! Ljubljana is a student city so it has a lot of places you can go and use student discount (museums, cinemas, theatres... ). Also, I must mention "studentski boni", which you can use to eat in restaurants (from 0, 00€ to 4, 5€ with "boni"). It has a lot of places for diffenent kinds of people - alternative, fancy and other kinds. Everyone can find something good!

Would you recommend the city and the University of Ljubljana to other students?

Definitely!

What is the food like?

Depends what you like. I would say that everyone can find something nice. With amazing studentski boni system you can eat almost everywhere. Also, if you are vegan/vegeterian, there are a lot of vegan friendly places (I would recommend Loving Hut on the main station - also if you are not vegan/vegeterian you will absolutely love it). You can also find a lot of other restaurants - Cantina Mexicana (my favourite place), Da Bu Da (Thai food), Meta in Basilica (Italian), Skuhna (oriental kitchen in Slovenian way)....

You must also visit Open Kitchen on the market on Fridays. A lot of restaurants put their stand there and cook for you.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Ljubljana?

I did not get the place in the dorm so it was kind of difficult to find something nice and not too expensive. Luckily for me that I undestand Slovenian so I could also talk to landlords and understand flat ads. But sometimes it is hard for Erasmus student who wants to stay for just one semester, because landlords usually ask for someone who would stay the whole year!

How much does it cost to live in Ljubljana?

Depends what needs you have. But if you want to party every day, go to trips and travel, and if you live in a private flat, I would say that around 600 € is fine.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

For me it was not because my language is similar to Slovenian. But for others it is pretty hard. There are language courses at the Uni which I would not recommend because you pay a lot of money and still can't really communicate.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Ljubljana from your city?

By bus.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Ljubljana?

Skelet is definitely my number one with the best Erasmus parties ever! Also, 1 + 1 cocktail offer is amazing!

Also, Circus, Metelkova, Top Six, Ziferblat, Cutty sark Pub are pretty awesome places.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Ljubljana?

Cantina Mexicana, Meta in Bazilica, Da Bu Da, Skuhna, The Wok, Al Capone....

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Bled, Postojna Cave, Triglav, Bohinj, Maribor, Soča river....
