What is it like to live in Ljubljana? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Living in Ljubljana is great, because it offers you excitement of a city yet it has peacefulness and cosiness of a small town. Everybody can find his favourite corner to make him feel like home.

What is the student lifestyle like in Ljubljana?

In Ljubljana, students work hard, but they do not forget to enjoy their student lives either. There is a lot of activities for students, bars and restaurants and also some great parties.

How much does it cost to live in Ljubljana?

Rooms usually cost around 200 €, depends in which part and what kind of apartment. Students can eat very cheap with the subventions and there are a lot of free activities and sports. Public transport costs 20 € per month.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Ljubljana? Is there any advice you can give?

It can be as difficult as anywhere else. My advice would be not to give up and not to settle for something you don't like. There are enough of decent rooms.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food is good and there are many great restaurants in the city centre. You can find a lot of Italian food an also places with traditional and homemade Slovenian food.

Students in Slovenia have subvention for food, which means that we can eat in many good restaurants for cheap, since the government pays for part of each meal. Bon apetit!

What places would you recommend visiting in Ljubljana?

Ljubljana castle and streets of old town are a must see. There is also a lot of great architecture. Walk trough peaceful Tivoli park in a sunny afternoon or visit nearby Rožnik hill. Especially in spring and summer, find yourself a spot in one of the many bars on the Ljubljanica bank, drink a beer and watch life passing by.

Is the nightlife good in Ljubljana? Where is good to go?

There are many parties of all kinds and you can find the one you like. Metelkova is one of the places that you should check out.

What advice would you give future students heading to Ljubljana?

Not to worry about anything. Most of the people speak English and are happy to help. It is very easy to find your way through Ljubljana and also public transport is quite useful.

Enjoy Ljubljana - it is a city that you will soon find yourself fallen in love with.
