What is it like to live in Ljubljana? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Ljubljana is a small city, 400000 people live there. It is really beautiful especially in December. There is a lot to do in Ljubljana, it is a city rich in culture and entertainment.
What is the student lifestyle like in Ljubljana?
The student lifestyle is awesome, you have a lot of amazing opportunities to learn, explore and have fun in the city.
How much does it cost to live in Ljubljana?
Around 600€ a month if you live in a single bed shared apartment. If you live in a student apartment it is much cheaper, it is around 300-400€ a month.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Ljubljana? Is there any advice you can give?
Finding accommodation is really difficult, because there are a lot of tourists through the year. You have to start searching early, 4-5 months before your arrival.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
You can find everything in Ljubljana, from traditional Slovenian cuisine. Also you will find everything that is international - Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Indian and other dishes as well.
What places would you recommend visiting in Ljubljana?
- Kino Šiška for good rock, alternative music
- Metelkova and Rog for alternative partying
- Rožnik
- The Ljubljana castle.
Is it good to eat out in Ljubljana? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Yes, I highly reccomend it. As an international student you also obtain student coupons for food, that means that your food is partly financed from Slovenia, so you pay less for food; starting from 2,5 € until 4,47 € for a meal in certain restaurants.
My favorite spots are Skuhna, Govindas, Utrip.
Is the nightlife good in Ljubljana? Where is good to go?
The nightlife is good at Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. In the week there are also a lot of student parties.

What advice would you give future students heading to Ljubljana?
Do not hesitate to visit Ljubljana, it is a small, yet beautiful city, start early with finding accommodation and go hike the mountains.
