What is it like to live in Ljubljana? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It's something, especially if you come from smaller places like me, it can be a very good experience. I would recomend it, because you can see a lot in a very small amount of time and also, there are great connections from Ljubljana to almost every beautiful place in Slovenia. The city is relatively small but very beautiful.

What is the student lifestyle like in Ljubljana?

Well, I can say everyone can find something suitable in Ljubljana, there are pubs, bars, discoteques and undergound places - perfect for every taste. So all and all, student life can be very lively, especially if you live in a dorm.

How much does it cost to live in Ljubljana?

Not much, perhaps around 250€ a month if you live in a dorm (and pay for it yourself).

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Ljubljana? Is there any advice you can give?

No, there is not - at least if you are a student it isn't. BUT if you are looking for a flat it can be a little difficult, since everybody is advertising their flats in Slovenian.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food - perfect. You can find absolutely everything in Ljubljana - from Chinese restaurants, sushi, Thai food, burgers, delicious pizzas, Slovenian food, Mexican food.... EVERYTHING. My favourite dish is chimichanga in Mexican restaurant or gnocchi with sea food.

Is it good to eat out in Ljubljana? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, very very good. My favourite spots are: Cantina Mexicana and Skriti kot.

Is the nightlife good in Ljubljana? Where is good to go?

Yes it is, almost everyday there is something you can do, some pubs are open every night of the week, there are also some pubs for Erasmus students. I would recomend Cirkus if you want a fancy night out, Parlament, if you want to drink and laugh and K4 or F-club if you like techno and you want to dance all night.

What advice would you give future students heading to Ljubljana?

Try as many restaurants as you can (since you have študentski boni), go out to some 'clubs' that are not so popular - there is better atmosphere, go live in a dorm!
