What is it like to live in Ljubljana? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I would recommend anyone to come to Ljubljana. The city is very relaxed and the people are nice. One of the best things in Ljubljana is transport, you can reach any corner of the city within just a couple of minutes with your bike. Also, there are a lot of big parks and other green surfaces which make Ljubljana so special.

What is the student lifestyle like in Ljubljana?

Ljubljana is student-oriented city. Students have a lot of discounts all over the city (for sports, food, entertainment, transport etc.), and there are a lot of students from all over the world. The destination is becoming more and more popular among students in last couple of years.

How much does it cost to live in Ljubljana?

Rent (shared apartment) is about 250 €, you can eat in restaurant for 2,00 - 4,50 €, bier is about 2,00-2,50 in a pub or 1,00 € in a supermarket. 400 € a month should be enough for those who are modest.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Ljubljana? Is there any advice you can give?

There is a lot of people (students) that look for a room or apartment in months of September and February. So you should think in advance if you are coming at that part of the year. Internet is the best way to look for apartment.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food is very good. Mixture of all kinds of food - Mediterranean, Alp, Turkish, Greek, Mexican, Chinese etc. You can choose between more than 100 restaurants and fast foods where you can eat with your student discount.

What places would you recommend visiting in Ljubljana?

Ljubljanski grad, Prešernov trg, Špica, Tivoli, Kongresni trg, AKC Metelkova.

Is it good to eat out in Ljubljana? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes. Plenty of restaurants to choose from. Cantina Mexicana, La Storia Tratoria, Stari Tišler, Foculus, Pod Lipo, Tunel...

Is the nightlife good in Ljubljana? Where is good to go?

Yes. It is pretty diverse. Metelkova is very popular among those who like more alternative or artistic style. There are a lot of other clubs. Erasmus students like to go to Parliament Pub, Guiness pub and Companeros.

What advice would you give future students heading to Ljubljana?

Relax and enjoy, student days don't last forever.
