What is it like to live in Ljubljana? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It is one of the friendliest places I've ever known and been in. Everyone goes out of their way to talk to you, to give you the help you need. They go with you to check what you're discussing, and nothing is any problem for them. They are the nicest people in the world. Everyone welcomes you, hands you their time, and takes lots of care in dealing and talking with you. It's an extremely welcoming place to potential faults. It's not a huge city.

What is the student lifestyle like in Ljubljana?

It looks very student atypical. Much of the city's whole accommodations seem to prioritize students. So much so that people who are not studying pay lots of money to stay about anywhere that I found.

How much does it cost to live in Ljubljana?

I found the accommodation very expensive. Rents are very high or impossible to fund on a low budget.

To buy lunch out is quite cheap. Most things are cheap. I bought my new digital camera while I was there.

The supermarkets are fairly cheap too. However, one I used was out of the city: Aldi.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Ljubljana? Is there any advice you can give?

It is extremely difficult to find it, but I managed to find someone where for a month. To do this came at considerable inconveniences, however, from the cheapest 2 legs flights journey I took to get there because my hist was already bored and given that I still had to book a hotel for 1 night to get there for when they were free,

When leaving there I had planned to stay I as I looked Ljubljana anyway. However where I booked next was a room in a house, that the female family member "looking after" it said that she's too tired to clean it. It really was a complete dive, out of the city, and I really despised Looking to stay there. Nowhere else. I ended up not staying there though because of a change in circumstances.

What is the food like? What are your favorite dishes?

The food is great. It says that they love their food in Slovenia, and they love the tastes more than anywhere else.

You can buy horse burgers there, but I didn't get one.

The food is cheap. They give you huge unmissable beef burgers, with everything on it. They are extremely generous people.

What places would you recommend visiting in Ljubljana?

Part of the city center has The 3 Bridges. It's not big, and still in use. It looks lovely as they cross the river together. Think of it as 3 giant fingers close together. Behind it is a beautiful pink cathedral. To the opposite end is Lubljana castle, which somewhat dominates the city center. It is bigger and maybe higher than Edinburgh Castle. You can take an elevator to ride up the side of its mound to reach the top. When you're there, the legend goes that Jason And a The Argonauts went there a long time ago. At the bottom of the ride again right at its feet, is an avenue with several very old buildings that have tavern cafes. Lovely to see and sit in. When you're there listen out for the clock because it does something when it chimes...

On the other side of there is the main market square, with lots of lovely Slovenian goods. This leads you to a long stretching market building along the top side of the river. Plus go there on Friday evenings for a hot international street food market for a great place to meet, congregate and start off your next Slovenian weekend. My 2 hosts took me there especially and we had a lovely time out in a lively and busy atmosphere.

Visit the Town Hall area too as there always seems to be structured, or ticketed street entertainment and events.

Visit one of the 2 useful and as helpful tourist information offices, which have colorful souvenirs and lots of information about the whole of Slovenia too.

Is it good to eat out in Ljubljana? Can you tell us your favorite spots?

There a good quiet atmosphere I found. Lots of eating out places and most of them are very expensive.

Is the nightlife good in Ljubljana? Where is good to go?

I didn't use it really There seem to be lots of pubs but more restaurants to drink at. Old fashioned places too.

What advice would you give future students heading to Ljubljana?

Get some money to pay for accommodation.

Be prepared for the friendliest place in the world -even from students.

It's a very young place with youthful minds.

The transport options are frequent enough but except for later in the evenings and weekends, they become much less frequent
