What is it like to live in Lagos? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Living in Lagos presents you wonderful experiences, but it is quite challenging! The busy traffic, meeting different people from different cultural background and the high rate of commercial activities make Living in Lagos quite challenging.
If you are financially stable, you love to meet people,and if you can cope with long-hour traffic, then I will say you can Live in Lagos.
Lagos is a beautiful city. It is a city for all classes of people and gradually becoming a preferred destination for international investors and tourists.

What is the student lifestyle like in Lagos?

Lagos is home to two prominent Universities: University of Lagos, Akoka (A federal government owned institution); and Lagos state University, Ojo(owned by the Lagos state government). For a student, getting a hostel accommodation will make living and studying in Lagos less stressful, less expensive and more interesting. Students studying in Lagos love to study and have fun! There are different activities that makes life interesting for students.

How much does it cost to live in Lagos?

For a student, you will need an average monthly allowance of #30,000 ($80). Accommodation cost (on campus) is about #40,000 per session ($110) while outside campus is around #160,000 ($440) per session.
For someone who wants to live in Lagos, you will need an average monthly income of #200,000 ($550).

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Lagos? Is there any advice you can give?

Yes. finding accommodation in Lagos is quite difficult.
If you love to live in a nice apartment, then you must be ready to spend more!

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

You can get local and foreign dishes. Jollof Rice is usually the most consumed meal. We have local delicacies such as Amala, Eba, Pounded yam, Semovita and wheat. Different soups like Efo, ewedu, egusi, etc.
My favourite dish is fried rice with dodo (fried plantain)and fish or chicken.

What places would you recommend visiting in Lagos?

The Eko Atlantic city, National theatre, Elegushi beach, city mall, University of Lagos, Victoria Island.

Is it good to eat out in Lagos? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

It is not advisable to eat out. You will normally spend more.
My favourite spot is Domino Pizza.

Is the nightlife good in Lagos? Where is good to go?

Nightlife is good in Lagos. I can not recommend a place because I rarely go out at night. But usually, people say there are good night clubs/spots on the Island.

What advice would you give future students heading to Lagos?

Be ready for challenges. Be ready to learn.
Make sure you get your finances right.
