What is it like to live in Lagos? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Yes, absolutely. Lagos is a cosmopolitan city with lots of adventure. Lagos is a city in the southwestern region of Nigeria, a city with so much business and industrial activities yet, full of social life. The city is a beautiful place to experience and you'll have so much fun with it's cuisine, people and environment.
What is the student lifestyle like in Lagos?
Student life is good and excellent. A blend of rigorous academic work and social experience. It city is full of buzz, life and rush so, it's advisable as a new student to get a local to help with some direction prior to finding your feet to understand the city. Living cost depends on the student lifestyle like other cities worldwide.
How much does it cost to live in Lagos?
Private student accommodation cost from $250-$500 while, on campus can be cheaper. The cost of transportation can be high, other private transport alternatives are available (Bolt, Uber etc.). Cost of food is average and there are premium and top-class restaurants if need be.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Lagos? Is there any advice you can give?
It can be relatively difficult to get but, with the right agencies, you'll definitely get a good accommodation.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Lagos is blessed with wide range of food and cuisine. Ranging from local Nigerian dishes to African and continental, Chinese or Asian cuisines are well visible in the heart of the city. The Amala,ewedu, bean soup,stew and assorted protein options are one of the locals and visitors favourite. Also, the Nigerian style of jollof rice is the best you can experience.
What places would you recommend visiting in Lagos?
Visit to private beaches, art galleries, boat/yacht rides, cinemas, gardens, Lekki conservation center etc.
Is it good to eat out in Lagos? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Yes, there are wide range of cool spots to enjoy local and continental cuisines. Lagos is full of good eat out restaurant, explore and you'll be impressed.
Is the nightlife good in Lagos? Where is good to go?
There's a popular saying that, Lagos doesn't sleep. The city is mostly active all day and night. You'll have so many night clubs, pubs and beach houses to visit to have a glimpse of Lagos night life.
What advice would you give future students heading to Lagos?
Be free to learn new culture, open to socialization cos, Nigerians are very open and nice people and be street smart.
