Praia da Dona Ana

Praia da Dona Ana, or Dona Ana's Beach in English, was considered the most beautiful beach in Europe by an spanish magazine and the best beach in Portugal by Trip Advisor. Indeed, it is one of the most gorgeous beaches I have ever been (and I've been to many beaches because I'm brazilian and I love the seaside!).

It is located in the south of Portugal in a region called Algarve, where you'll find many beautiful beaches, but the most famous of all is Dona Ana's.

The beach is surronded by rock formations, inside and outside the sea- typical Algarve's scenery. The water is blue and clear, and the sand is nice and soft (not rocky like many european beaches). It's definetly a scenery to take your breath away.

The place is not that big and you can walk the whole beach through. While walking you may find hidden places which are real nature treasures. In one of the beach's edges, if you climb a rock you'll find a gap between rocks that you can pass through and find another little beach. Stunning! 

How and when to go

Also, except for this little climbing, the beach is really acessible. Near from Lagos city center (2km away) and from another must see in the city: Ponta da Piedade (which I also talk about here). 

You can get there by foot from city center, if you like walking, or by car. 

Explore the place during the end of the summer and beggining of autumn, when it's not so crowded and it still very sunny and hot. September is the best month to go!
