What is it like to live in Kuopio? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Kuopio is a nice city in winter because you can ice-skate on the lake or go skiing. There’s usually a lot of snow in winter.
Good thing in living in Kuopio is that if you live in the downtown you can walk or ride a bike almost everywhere.
What is the student lifestyle like in Kuopio?
There are some student events in Kuopio but not as many as in other cities in Finland, for example in Tampere. So if one wants to party a lot, Kuopio isn’t maybe the best choice.
How much does it cost to live in Kuopio?
One-room flats are about 500 eur/month, two-room flats about 700 eur/month and so on. Accommodations from student’s apartment service Kuopas are cheaper.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Kuopio? Is there any advice you can give?

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
The university cafeteria is very good. There are at least four choices every day and it only costs 2, 60€ for students. There are also pretty ordinary restaurants in Kuopio. Traditional food in Kuopio is vengeance (Baltic herring type fish) and mashed potatoes.
What places would you recommend visiting in Kuopio?
Puijo tower is nice.
Is the nightlife good in Kuopio? Where is good to go?
There are some nightclubs but the nightlife isn’t like the wildest in the world.
What advice would you give future students heading to Kuopio?
If you like winter, sports and peace, Kuopio is a good place to go.
