What is it like to live in Kosice? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I lived in Kosice for 5 years during my university studies and it was nice. The city has to offer a lot of culture and history and it is definitely appropriate for students' life.

What is the student lifestyle like in Kosice?

The city has a lot of places to offer, especially at night. There is a lot of parties taking place in different parts of the city, but mainly in the center. Students' parties take place usually from Tuesday till Thursday with ISIC free entrance or a discount. The best parties take place on Friday and sometimes on Saturday (but they are not considered as students' ones). You can also find some Erasmus parties organized by the ESN organization.

How much does it cost to live in Kosice?

Living in Kosice is pretty cheap. For one month rent, you pay approx. 80-150 € (depends if it is a dormitory or room in a flat). Going out is also very cheap. You can find places where you pay for a beer 1-1.20 € and the same for a shot. If you want to go for lunch somewhere in the center, you'll pay 3-5 € per dish.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Kosice? Is there any advice you can give?

I was living in a dormitory but, in general, I don't think there is any problem with finding accommodation.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The best food is (of course) traditional Slovak one like Bryndzove halusky, Bryndzove pirohy, potato meatballs with cabbage, etc.

What places would you recommend visiting in Kosice?

The most beautiful church - the Cathedral of St. Elizabeth on the Main street (Hlavna ulica), ZOO and Observation Desks.

Is it good to eat out in Kosice? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, it is good because it isn't expensive. Personally, I don't have any favorite restaurant but I use to go to places where you can have a meal and a drink right after.

Is the nightlife good in Kosice? Where is good to go?

The nightlife is very good for students. AlL disco-bars are open until 4 AM. The best places to go are Ibiza Club, Retro Club and Jazz Club.

What advice would you give future students heading to Kosice?
