What is it like to live in Kosice? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Kosice is the second biggest city of Slovakia. In that case, the living here is good, all services are available. Really nice city center, built in a gothic style, offers many options for sightseeing. If you come to Slovakia, it would be such a pitty not to visit this beautiful place.

What is the student lifestyle like in Kosice?

Similar than somewhere else. Going to school, studying and in free time having fun with friends. It depends also on period of time and preferences of every student - what your aims look like. Maybe those more ambitious spend more time studying when the finals are coming closer, but in the end, all the students love to have fun and enjoy the life.

How much does it cost to live in Kosice?

It depends on level of life we are used to. It may differ from one to another. Hoewever, when you do not need to eat every day in restaurant and live in a luxury room, everything is okay.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Kosice? Is there any advice you can give?

For students it is the best to live in student´s house or to share a flat. However, it is easier to book accomodation in student´s house than find a flat to share. I think that the most of international students do so.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

I like the food here, for me it is tasty, but maybe it is because I am used to it, who knows. However, I think that all of foreign people visiting Slovakia should taste the typical slovak food, for example "bryndzove halusky" (sheep cheese dumplings).

What places would you recommend visiting in Kosice?

The best and most visited is historical city center. I would also recommend to visit zoo and observation tower.

Is it good to eat out in Kosice? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Of course it is more expensive than preparing food at home, but time to time it is good to eat out. You can go for a pizza, kebab, fast food or you can go to eat to a restaurnt. During the academic year, I prefer eating in school canteen and I love it there. There is a wide-ranging menu every day, everything is tasty and prices are also good.

Is the nightlife good in Kosice? Where is good to go?

I think, yes. For those, who like loud music and dancing, there are different disco clubs. For the others, who prefer talking with friends while drinking some drinks, in city center there are a lot of coffee-bars. You can visit also billiard club and have fun with friends.

What advice would you give future students heading to Kosice?

Don´t hesitate and enjoy the city!
