Small but worthwhile (especially for Erasmus students)

Kortrijk is a small, clean city of eighty thousand people with loads of small houses.

Its three main schools are:

• KatHO University College (Katholische Hochschule Nordrhein-Westfalen): school of higher education. It is the best option if you intend to go on an Erasmus in Belgium!
• HOWEST (Hogeschool West-Vlaanderen): school of higher education.
• Kulak (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven): the University of Kortrijk.

Housing prices are more or less reasonable; especially if you rent a studio. And, in case you were planning on travelling around, there are good connections to Bruges and Ghent by train.

The main places to go out are in the centre of Kortrijk and around the schools. You can easily find loads of nice spots to have lunch and to party.

Moreover, you can still enjoy your stay in spite of the rough Belgian weather (it rains, and rains, and rains... ) thanks to the facilities in and around the city such as:

• Kinepolis: it is a huge cinema complex
• Xpo Kortrijk: it is an enormous venue in the heart of the city. It has two big pool complexes and you can go there to see exhibitions, play paintball, karting, and much more.
